Marisa is a death doula—a role that is also called an end‑of‑life companion, soul midwife or end‑of‑life doula, Marisa provides comfort, continuous support, and reassurance, helping a dying person experience the death they desire. She respectfully assists and accompanies the individual on their journey, whether it takes place at home, in a hospital, or in a hospice.
Marisa believes that a good death is an extraordinary, moving, and sacred experience. It can also have a healing quality—not only for the person who is dying but also for their family, friends, and the wider community. (Quote adapted from Felicity Warner, Gentle Dying)

Marisa is also a professionally trained funeral celebrant; she completed her training with the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants. She works closely with funeral directors to provide a service that honours the individual, their family members, and loved ones.
Marisa is a qualified mental‑health nurse who worked in the profession for many years. She left nursing in 2014 to focus on end‑of‑life care and planning. Marisa maintains a spiritual practice and engages in ongoing spiritual development, which enriches both her work and daily life.
